Universal Search & Keyboard Shortcuts: Find It Before You Mutter

How the command palette, record search, scanner bridge and shortcut help turn navigation into muscle memory.

ReVend OS has a lot of places to go: assets, companies, inbound orders, auctions, deals, escrows, tickets, settings, documents. Clicking through the full navigation tree every time would technically work, in the same way walking to the printer for every email technically works.

Universal search

The command palette searches records and actions across the app. It can surface assets by serial, companies by name, orders by number, deal rooms by context, and actions that make sense from where the user is. Multi-serial lookup helps warehouse teams paste or scan several identifiers without turning search into a tiny spreadsheet cosplay.

Actions, not just records

The palette is also a shortcut layer. It can open common actions, scanner flows, saved searches and module destinations. Results stay scoped to what the user can access; search should not become a back door with a prettier input field.

Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcut help is context-aware. Safe navigation shortcuts stay available broadly, while destructive or dirty-form actions respect the current state. The app does not steal native browser shortcuts for sport. Nobody wins when Save means "surprise, your tab closed."

Why it matters

Operators build speed through repetition. Universal search and shortcuts keep frequent work close to the keyboard and scanner, while still leaving the normal navigation readable for everyone else. It is the difference between knowing the building and having to ask reception where receiving is every morning.
